Hanne Grosemans

Research assistant / Lab Manager / Data Scientist

I did my thesis at the functional biology lab at the KU Leuven. Afterwards, I started working in the neurodegeneration part of the lab. Here I worked with bacteria and yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) and used a broad range of techniques including PCR, genetical manipulation of yeast, cloning, and western blot. After this I started working in the Translational cardiomyology lab at the Stem cell institute at the KU Leuven. Here I had the opportunity to have the freedom to plan experiments and I had the chance to broaden my knowledge in cell culture, molecular biology, animal experiments and bioinformatics. As the next step in my career, I moved to Scotland, to the RNA lab of prof. S. Granneman at the University of Edinburgh. In this lab, I could combine my previous experience with S. cerevisiae and use my programming skills. I have more than nine years of experience in the academic world, working with master students, PhD students and post- docs.
